Re: New Sting album coming out

As much as I loved Sting's earlier solo material and certainly his work with the Police. There comes a time when I usually part ways with an artist. For me with Sting that was Sacred Love. Even Brand New Day was considerably weaker than previous attempts, IMO. Other examples could include Toto with ...

Re: new Satriani cd

That tune did nothing for me. What was interesting was the Vic Firth sticks that Vince is playing at 2:07.

Top of pile 2 looks like it could potentially be a Slingerland Radio King.

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

I've had problems with YESS mounts on both Yamaha kits I've owned. Even my guitar player heard a difference. I've done a good deal of research on this topic. It seems that some people either have a problem or they don't. More likely, some either hear the sustain robbing qualities YESS mounts make or...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

Why would anyone jump ship from Yamaha to go to Mapex? IMO, Mapex are the most generic sounding drums on the market. I couldn't pick out a Mapex drum from a line up if my life depended on it.

How do you go from playing a PHX, to saying, I got to have me some of that Mapex? I don't get it.

Sorry this thread has been hijacked but....

I could only make it 3:00 minutes into the JR clip. That was absolutely horrible. I'd say only marginally more awkward than the infamous Thomas Lang DW turd seen here:

"I'm addicted to wood."

Re: SIMON PHILLIPS - The thread about Simon

I don't know if this has been posted or not as I haven't read the entire thread. I'm a huge Toto and Nik Kershaw fan. If you haven't heard Simon on Nik's "Violet to Blue" from his 1986 Radio Musicola album, you're in for a real treat. Enjoy!!!!

Very nice playing Nick! Just curious...what kind of head is that on the snare?
