Re: Yamaha EAD10
I think that should be possible. The trigger (kick) is really well blend in with the mic's. If it sounds OK on the IE it should be working with a small PA. Be aware off sympathetic snare buzz , it sounds a bit like you'r using a bottom mic for the snare. Also, the mix is off balance. I use two rack-...

Re: Yamaha EAD10
I've been working with the EAD10 for two days. Took me a while to get it working the way I want to. I use it with IE , sequencer and Porter&Davis tactile monitor system. It does improve the overall situation, especially the replacement of mics and reverb unit. You might want additional OH and a ...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
I use to play with a variety of sticks. The Zildjian Colaiuta stick is the best allround stick ever imho. The sound you get is huge, lot's of low end plus attack. The feel of the stick is great, solid , no flex and the fastest 5B I've ever played with. The wood type is different from Vic Firth, hick...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta.
For some reason I never listened carefully to Carl Palmer, I'm not too much 'into' prog rock. When I was watching some ELM video's it reminded me of things Vinnie does. Maybe it is completely by coincidence. I never heard or read anything that suggests VC has been influenced by Carl Palmer.

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta.
Thanks for the wonderful Vinnie footage! This is the first time I found the Paiste cymbals a great fit with Colaiuta. The ride bell is not loud and the bow not so washy. What an incredible communicator he is and what a great Tony Williams kinda vibe. I still love him on Yamaha drums with this more c...

Re: Could use some help...
Some thoughts: the brain will peak in learning ability for about 45 minutes, after that time it will work of course but it will be less effective in learning. The brain will not get tired as we feel fatigue but it will get bored after a certain amount of time. So it could be more effective to cut th...

Re: Me Playing Live
Nice! Your backbeat is already consistent en that snare 'cuts' great. Since you're looking for opinions, the only thing that stood out for me was the fills you played. They kinda 'lost' the energy of the beat in stead of emphasizing the moment. Anyway, I think you did a good job

That Tama-vid of Erskoman ...loved it! Big phat phrasing and deep pocket. The big kit is great with his style. Sweet!! I like it when Erskine goes 'big'.

Re: Jeff Watts masterclass Monday night in NYC
That sounds like a board mix without the overheads or something. Really nice to hear the bass drum that upfront from a 'study' perspective. You can hear exactly when he buries the beater. I hate that sound when I do it myself on a open tuned kick and it is interesting to hear that even Jeff Watts ge...
