Re: New Sting album coming out
Is he finally doing Saucy Jack? I can't listen to him except when Omar is playing or with The Police, I like what Vinnie plays but the tunes dont't move me. Omar kicked the crap out that band. Got to see the Bring on the Night band mid- '80s w/ Omar and all those guys. Kenny Kirkland, Branford, was...

Re: R.I.P. Mulgrew Miller
Saw this elsewhere. Bad and surprising news. I got to see Mulgrew a bunch of times with the Tony Williams quintet in the late '80s - early '90s. Spoke to him briefly at their last performance at the old Yoshi's. RIP, Mulgrew.

Me too and plus one! Amazing player. I think I saw him with Zawinul three times, twice with Nat Townsley and once with Rodge.

Re: The Gadd Gang at Catalina's Oct 17th-20th
Saw a version of the Gadd Gang with Joey DeFrancesco, Ronnie Cuber, and a guitarist who escapes me at Yoshi's SF a couple of years ago. Great show. Gadd has become the Buddha of the Groove, playing in the cracks and making it all work. I saw this further in - interested to hear the new album: STEVE ...

Re: Steven Wilson live in Mexico (Marco Minemman on drums)
There was a heavy KC thing. The Streets of San Francisco theme, that also had some west coast jazz thing going on. It took some balls to put a lineup like that together and tour. Steven should be commended For his business skills. Heavy KC thing: Yes! Grace is a lot of Crimson circa '71 with some S...

Re: Steven Wilson live in Mexico (Marco Minemman on drums)
I think Steven Wilson is doing some of the most interesting stuff around, no matter whether it's in Porcupine Tree or his solo project(s). I appreciate both. I've seen the SW band on both tours and they were tremendous, amazing both times. I think I prefer Grace for Drowning to the Raven overall, mo...

Re: Steven Wilson live in Mexico (Marco Minemman on drums)
I saw Steven Wilson at the Fillmore in S.F. last night. Great show and i was surprised to find that Marco Minneman was in the drum chair, not Chad Wackerman. Apparently, Marco found a sub for his other gigs, maybe it was Chad. Anyway, the band was in fine form. They played all of the Raven and parts...

Re: Nat Townsley
Sorry to have been out of the loop for this thread. Nathaniel Townsley is a wonderful player. I've only seen him twice, both times with the Zawinul Syndicate. Power, groove, taste, chops; everything you want. He's a minister in New York (as Zawinul said, "the son and grandson of a minister"...
