Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.

Hey, all. I don't post often but wanted to share my experience w Gretsch. After a year of searching I finally pulled the trigger on a USA Custom kit, which I bought used on Ebay - 22x16, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16 and 14x7 - 125th Anniversary Rock Legend - Millenium Maple Stain with Nitrocellulose Gloss. Ja...

Re: Recent Carlock w/ Krantz footage

Wayne is great, but the last couple albums don't move me like the first 3. Long to be Loose is a great studio album. Signals, with Dennis Chambers, is really good, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCkdeTHPeGs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjfZNnv-Sko With Ari Hoenig: http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: "Non-youtube musicians" video thread

This guy posted a nice breakdown Vinnie's groove on the Chaka Khan rehearsal vid a few months back.

I really like his style/technique. He's got a website and posted a bunch of fills and classic grooves for his students here.

Cool lesson, Steve. Thanks for taking the time to film and post these. Beside the killer playing, your delivery is concise, confident and well organized.

I'll just leave this in the suggestion box: Shed Some Light - Part II?

Love Gary's playing ... whether he's on drums ... or "slappin' da bass". (2:27) The pimp hand is strong in this one!

Didn't Gary play bass on a couple albums? I can't recall which.

Re: Carlock moves to Grestch

Checked out Keith's clinic a couple nights ago at Bentley's Drum Shop in Fresno. His Brooklyn kit sounded fantastic - very warm and round tone. Apparently, he's added a couple LP items to his setup, too - a micro-snare and cowbell. He also had a big 'ol 14x8 Gretsch snare to the left of his hats - t...

Greetings, HOD. I don't post here much, but I love this forum and read it often -- what a great resource and community you guys have here. Thanks to Steve and all of you for that! I recently moved out of San Diego and agree with desipel, while Anthology is a very nice venue for live jazz, the talent...

Re: Gadd

Little late chiming in on this topic, but ... Bad Benson (CTI era) as yet another testament to Gadd's badassery. Possible the drums were overdubbed? If not, Gadd's musical intuition borders on clairvoyance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlisYqDnTjg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhSBK8VaLss
