Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

Heard this on The Bridge, the 70s soft-rock channel on Sirius. Bernard Purdie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T5hQZ_nfWE You say you want to learn to laugh 'cause music makes you cry But the tears you shed are only in your eye So you turn to any phony mouth with a tale to tell But he's just a hoaxe...

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

Eddie's guitar, what a touch he has. Alex's Ludwig LM402, the crack from hell. The harder you hit that thing, the more it opens up. There is no top end. It feels so good too. It's a bit much for most music though lol. "The grass is never greener and there's plenty around" http://www.youtub...

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

This has probably been posted before, but the amount of unreal drumming on 5-5-5 is unfuckingbelievable to me. Every measure has something.

Kudos to Mark Atkinson.

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

Sad to see what time has done to Phil. Would be interesting to see Phil's son in this group. They are out on tour, playing more later 70s Genesis. He has the tom sound down.

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

I like to see the various approaches to Bonham at these Bonzo Bashes...this is a Gregg Potter-free post. This guy is pretty impressive. Nails the groove. Doesn't just beat the shit out of everything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWAwK-vw1Dg This guy is pretty good too. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: The value of groove drummers

Two bars of Steve Jordan is gold. He lays it there for the vocal.

Re: The value of groove drummers

Cool topic. I don't think Antonio has much concrete in his hands. On the other hand. You would expect this dude to get it. The bass drum needs to be in the precise spot for the groove to work, and the snare needs to sit a bit. Damn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giB8gZ2L6hA Didn't think about this ...

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

I wonder if they will have trouble selling the show. I hope they make it to the Midwest, I'd love to catch it. Deen is crazy good.

John Guerin, this is a busy groove, but the dead drums and mix make it fit, with a San Fran vibe.

Re: Adam Deitch

This is a great player, but where does the music breathe?

He is a killer player, but not subtle. Scofield needs a pocket.
