Re: Steve Holmes vids

One of my favorite little things you do is lay into a crash and then just hold your hand there for a couple of beats. Visually, it just makes a really strong statement. I'm stealing it!

Re: HOD's Sammy on CA Gold

Holy shit! Being interviewed by Huell Howser is something that I would never shut up about. That show is just 100 percent fascinating, as pretty much anything Huell sees or comes into contact is fascinating to him. I've never laughed so hard at a show that was not intentionally trying to be funny. H...

What happened to these guys?

Chester (and Zoro, I think?) both live here in Nashville. Chester plays straight ahead jazz gigs all over town. I think they both do or did teach lessons at Fork's Drum Shop.

Kenny Wollesen

Just heard a really great new album called Modern Lore by Julian Lage and has some terrific playing throughout including the rarely discussed Kenny Wollesen. I highly recommend a listen and wonder if any of you have any favorite recordings that Wollesen has played on? I love the Bill Frisell album E...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

I’ll give that first one a listen again, but there must be something about it (and all the others) that I don’t like because I WANT to love this band, I just don’t for some reason.

I guess I missed this when it happened - new Jing Chi? https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/supremo-feat-robben-ford-jimmy-haslip-vinnie-colaiuta/1280537464 Listened to it today. Man, I have really been underwhelmed with Jing Chi since the beginning. Maybe I have way too high of expectations as Robben...

Ludwig Fab 4

Hey guys, I bought a Ludwig Fab 4 kit in 1999. 20, 12, 14 in silver sparkle. I would like to turn that kit into a bigger kit. Basically, I’m looking for a 22, 10, and 16 in silver sparkle. Does anyone have a contact at Ludwig that I could speak to? I’ve sent twitter messages but have not had any fee...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

I have always felt artists should record the recording process "making off..." and sell this or use it as part of their membership privileges. Witness the process as Esperanza Spalding documents the exploration of the most fundamental elements of inspiration, spontaneity, and improvisatio...
