I was there at that very gig, which was at Wembley Arena. I think it was 1984. And Steve Gadd was in the support band! That was with Dave Sanborn and Nathan East.

Excellent Steve! For a future video, could you maybe do one that expands on your effortless double kick chops which you demoed towards the end, maybe showing useful exercises you found helped you develop your smooth execution.

I should have clarified really that I was more interested in songs where the artist that Vinnie recorded for was the version that actually charted in the US or UK pop charts. I think of the ones posted here, and they're all awesome but a bit 'muso'ish', Nightshift by Commodores charted in the top 10...

Pop songs with Vinnie

I'd be interested to know of well known pop songs, outside of his obvious work with Sting, that Vinnie has recorded drums for. A song I really like is Jennifer Warnes cover of First We Take Manhattan. I'd been practising time to this song for a while and only later discovered Vinnie was the drummer....
