Re: DAVE WECKL - The thread about Dave

Mike's set has been 4-5 tunes + encore for pretty much 2 decades now. If you say so. I've been to see Stern about 20 times since around 1994, and I honestly feel like he used to play more tunes. It’s entirely possible — I started working for him around the These Times record (‘04), and it’s definit...

Re: DAVE WECKL - The thread about Dave

Saw the show a few nights ago. They played for about an hour and twenty minutes, and in that time, played FOUR tunes, interspersed with a bunch of soloing. I really wish they'd play more music and keep the wanking under control. Stern's catalog is massive. FWIW, Mike's set has been 4-5 tunes + enco...

Re: DAVE WECKL - The thread about Dave

Taste is a personal thing, but FWIW, the audio on that CCEB vid is terrible. So much of the power of that song comes from how LOUD and FULL the lines are; Chick sounds like he's playing a toy organ there, and the bass doesn't translate at all. Also a lot of Dave's dynamic contrast is lost in the vid...

It just grooves harder. Try it, you'll like it; it's a nice way to switch up the shuffle feel.

Re: So here's where I am..

Hey Rudy! Sounding good! The things that jumped out at me were the fills that you used to connect the different sections of the song ... they didn't seem to always pocket .. also, they seemed like rehearsed "licks" as opposed to organic, in-the-moment reactions to the music. There are melo...

The first accent of the head is on the 'e' of 1, which might be what's throwing you.
