That may have been the case back then, but today, cruise ships are one of the only places left for musicians to actually get paid to work. Cirque de Soleil is the other one.

I'm pretty sure Oleta Adams made Get Here famous and charted, not sure about the Brenda Russell version. The title track of the album was also released as a single and was a minor R&B hit. It was later recorded by Oleta Adams and became a huge trans-Atlantic hit for her in 1991 (US #5, UK #4). ...
