Re: The Best & Worst Things Of Being An Older Drummer

Being a self-taught garage-band-graduate...I just don't have the musical apptitude I wish I had learned earlier. I was an athlete thru school. I am more of an "athletic drummer" than a musician. It was fun working in the musical instrument business with Paiste and Pearl in my 20s, 30s...so...

Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.

In that video...Vinnie touched on nearly every "talking point" we learned before giving Paiste cymbal clinics back in the 80s. I guess it takes some a while before they really "hear it". It's all true, by the way...the musicality across the different lines when you mix them, the ...

Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.

Had some great times doing clinics with Chester Thompson during my time with Paiste in the 80s. I confused him with the keyboard player Chester, too, when I put on a poster that drummer Chester played for Santana to promote a clinic we had at a music store I worked at before Paiste. Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.

One of my inside contacts report that Vinnie is now a "Paiste Artist".

The Swiss craftsmen deserve this.

Re: SKB Drum bags?

I had other SKB products...rack case, and gun cases for rifles and pistols...nice stuff.

I did just get a Protection Racket snare bag...nicely lined with sheepskin-type padding.

Re: Buddy Rich Memorial: Who was there?

When I worked at The Guitar Store in Pomona, CA I ran the drum dept....early 80s. In 1983-84 we did a Vinnie C clinic sponsored by Yamaha since we bought x-number of drumsets...place was packed. Vinnie was the buzz then...5-6 years before this BRMC in 89. I have no photos or video...it was before an...

Re: Buddy Rich Memorial: Who was there?

I was at the first one at the Wiltern. A great night! It really was magical to have these guys playing together, having fun...with the hall full of drummers staring at them. I cut the hole in Dennis Chamber's front BD head...I was working for Pearl at the time, managing the West Coast Dist Ctr just ...
