Just sounds like he's accenting every 3rd 16th note & filling in with double strokes - ala alternating 5 stroke rolls - and just bringing his right hand down on 2 & 4. I'm just hearing it as 16ths & 32nd notes. But that's just my interpretation. Hopefully one of the transcription wizard ...

Yeah, the K Custom Special Dry definitely doesn't cut through very much. I've got one. Amazing cymbal. But definitely a very 'jazzy' ride. I would recommend a K Dark Medium Ride. I've got a 22" (pretty sure there's a 20" version too) and it works perfectly in a lot of different situations....

That song has got to hold the record for most notes ever! He was blowing pretty much the entire tune. Impressive, yes. Didn't dig the tune at all though.

Mangini has the Dream Theater signature trademark symbol on his drums already, in that picture-- the greek letter "phi". I don't think that would be on there unless he already got the gig. That's Mike's signature Pearl snare drum. It's always had that symbol on it - way before any of this...
