Re: Is it just me (boom vs. straight)?

They don't last very long: http://www.justplaymusic.com/drums-and-percussion/yamaha-pts-3-8mm-flanged-cymbal-sleeve-2pk/08679287979.html You can use a fender washer (5/1...

Re: Is it just me (boom vs. straight)?

I have replaced a few of the really thick ones that came with some of my Yamaha stands...they seemed a bit restrictive. They are definitely on the thick side, but all you need to do is peel away a bit at a time until it's the right thickness for your application. They split very easily just using y...

Re: Is it just me (boom vs. straight)?

You can probably feel the difference. Grasp the stand near the middle while you strike it. The boom stand probably absorbs energy in the boom while it moves ever so slightly. I still prefer straight stands if I can get away with it. Easier, quicker setup and less metal to haul around.

Re: With much respect to Vinnie and many others

If you're really into this stuff that much, I suggest you post a YouTube video where you clearly demonstrate your concepts. Re: Head question- G2 vs. emperors

do you prefer Remo in general or are you talking about a specific situation such as..."oh, it sounds great in my drum room with drum brand X" ? I prefer them in general, for any purpose. I've been playing clear ambassadors for the better part of 30 years. Occasionally, I use coated ambass...
