Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

A while ago I started working on the first PlanetX album (listed as a Derek S solo album), just to indulge 20-years-ago-me and find some motivation to study. A phrase that I never got around to achieve was from Atlantis Pt3, because I didn't hear a couple of groups of 6 that always threw me off (Atl...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

On the non-musical non-healthy side of things, you have to admire how independent the man really is and always has been. He has his own thing going and won't settle for any drumming trend (we all know about those) or marketing construct. He was totally ahead at recording video/audio material and sti...

Re: Quarantine Chatty!

Thank you all, people. It's been just totally nuts. Stuff was already happening by the time I left but I guess at some point it just becomes too much and your defenses kick in. The whole pandemic only made it all crazier. And yeah, I've learned a lot about people. Got to see who was there, who wasn'...

Re: Quarantine Chatty!

So, I've been inactive in this forum for what, 3 or 4 years? In essence, I became disconnected with a lot of communities after getting divorced and having to restart most of my life. Had to concentrate on all the important stuff and just survive. And after many bumps, losing my home a couple times a...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

So many greats are SO NOT hip to sport... Sorry, Rodge...I wasn't really talking about sports...I was referring to exercising. Doing cardiovascular exercises (as well as watching what one eats) will do wonders for stamina. Of course, Virgil might be a freak and just have natural stamina without wor...

Re: Drum related injuries (I did something to my leg)

I'm with langmick on this one. Take this one as a warning, try to go with physical therapy and keep it going with some training to improve overall physical condition. There's a lot of different training modes available right now that aren't weight lifting and can do wonders. I mean, I'm 33 and I spe...

Re: Practice Pad = no Pad Hands

Interesting tht you used to use the lighter sticks on the pad. I use the heavier sticks mainly for getting flow and balance. I sometimes do a bit of stick control with them, but as added weight they work well for geting some variation on finger control. The Colaiuta sticks I use are pretty much 5Bs...

Re: RIP Glenn Frey....

Been playin' Eagles tunes all morning long :(
They're one of the big bands on the soundtrack of my life. I was also fortunate to see them live a few years ago and it's possibly one of the 5 best concerts I've ever attended. And that's saying a lot.
