Re: DW Frequent Flyer Series
Drums sound OK....but ....here comes one of my ridiculous criticisms. That's about as uninspired set playing as I've seen...not to say it sounds bad. It sounds good. But dear me please light a fire for the love of God. He's playing down to our mortal level so we can appreciate how they're gonna sou...

Re: Still the best recorded drum sound I've ever heard!
I agree. For what it is, it's a beautiful sound. The tone and resonance of those drums heard on a high quality sound system is amazing. I've discovered that about some other older drum recordings heard on the right equipment. Years ago, I read that Morello switched to DW drums (Collecter's I'm gues...

Still the best recorded drum sound I've ever heard!
This is in response to the latest Weckl thread. Weckl always deservedly garners copious compliments on his drum sound. But, there's just something raw and organic that comes through on Morello's drums that I've never heard surpassed, IMHO, of course. Obviously, it's better listing to the vinyl recor...

Re: Drummer was killed in the attack in England.
Beat me to it. I just saw this on Google news, and had to post something here. The whole thing is quite disgusting and sad. Here's another news report. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/10077396/Woolwich-attack-murdered-soldier-Drummer-Lee-Rigby-would-do-anything-for-anybody...

Re: Evolution of a Drum Solo
Hey Joe, I've admired your clean, precise playing from your past instructional videos. It's also great to hear your description of your approach to soloing. Your annotations that explain your thought process during the solos is very effective. Great job with that. I think most non-straight ahead jaz...

Re: Best and fastest way to learn how to read music(?)
Hey guys, I've been playing drums for years, but don't know how to read music. What are your recommendations for learning to read music? I'd like to be able to read charts to do beat-oriented gigs (rock, country, gospel, etc.). Nothing too technical yet. Just to be able to play through songs (vocal...
