Re: Vinnie's new cymbals
I may have to try out the hats next. EDIT: After playing around with it - it's too heavy for my tastes - It's gongy in comparison to my Agops - I still stand by with what I said above - just doesn't fit my ears and playing - I've adapted to the lighter weights I think - 2900 + grams for the ME 602 ...

Re: Improving your time keeping
I like practicing to a click, but to not get too dependent on it, I like to have the click hitting the offbeats - anything but 'One'. I got the idea from a Jeff Sipe article - he describes it as the click playing along with you, vs. you playing to the click. That's a cool way to look at it - you're ...

Thanks Steve - cool stuff,as always. I've been getting into this kind of thing lately - and your take on it is really helpful.

Re: Is Zildjian/VF going to continue making the Vinnie stick
...Weird thing is that they sell their sticks in three different weights for each model (an endorser told me this): light, medium and heavy - but I've never seen them sold that way in retail stores or online... Vater does this too - If you buy a brick of sticks - you'll get three different weights....

Roger Waters has sounded better - but overall their set was really good - even though the drummer was cheesy and overplayed.
The Stones were weak...
SJ is always great and I thought Zack Starkey was just as great! Now Kanye West is on, hence my online presence...

Re: Vinnie out with 60 year-old bass player
... Has anyone played a full set of Dark Energy cymbals, with multiple rides? Incredible... Yes... that would be me. Old 2002s and DE's are what I've been playing for a while now, and I get lots of compliments on the DE's! But I still think the 602s just don't cut as well, or have the fullness that...

Re: Vinnie out with 60 year-old bass player
I hear what you're saying Paul, they've never had the fullness to my ear, the sound is kind of thinner over all in my opinion. I just think the Zildjians sound significantly better. I love Paiste and I don't play Zildjian, but I think Vinnie's old A Customs sounded better... Just more oomph - thin ...
