Re: Jojo's new pedal

Tried it Friday. Liked it a lot. It sat on a new Ludwig bass drum which sounded great. Also helped, I think. Reminded me of older pedals like speed king and similarly simple pedals, which is not surprising when you know how the new pedal came about. It was priced at $295,-. I have an Eliminator, so ...

Where is my head!? Best covers in a long time, and they've recorded a debut album. Looking forward to that one - could go both ways though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjVGJ3YFDc8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsqh9jHkHlM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQaWN5ODdVY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

Taken from Virgil's 'Obsessive Rhythms' VHS released in 1989, this is the first version of 'Origin and The End'. I actually prefer this version, since the slower tempo makes it easier to hear the intricate bass drum ostinato. Plus it has a nice solo section with some creative stuff. http://www.youtu...

That's around the time they recorded 'Between The Lines' which is actually my favorite Stern/Weckl collaboration.

Good stuff!

Re: Most Essential Drum Books?

What's the best double bass book/concept you guys have seen? I've used Joe Franco's book, it's basic double bass, if I use Gavin's substitutions and some of my own ideas I can make it more difficult. I have Virgil's book but haven't really practiced anything in it. Some of the stuff looks crazy. Is...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

BTW, what ride is Virgil using for this gig with Allen? http://www.23hq.com/23666/7953786_199a1bbfed042a0aff366cfda7e29677_standard.jpg - a light ride to be specific. These days he usually alternates between the light and the medium , but as you can see from the stacked cymbals, he is not one to sh...
