Re: New Dream Theater...

They played their first gig with Mangini in Rome. Solid playing from the few min I watched. Youtubes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNzHlCApjHg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX-zt_o-7WA http://www.licklibrary.com/news/2011/07/1630-Dream_Theater_play_first_show_with_Mike_Mangini_behind_the_drumkit

Re: New Dream Theater...

I like DT heavier. Portnoy was good at taking the complex stuff and laying down a groove, sometimes they were pretty cool. This is less groovy and headbanging, more wanking. A whole song doesn't have to be in freaking unison.

Re: Pass this around

That thing would be next to me every single day of my life. Wow. That is just sad. I played with a guy who had a nice P Bass...it was snowing out and miserable in a Michigan winter way, I heard a knock on my door, he was standing there white faced and all he said was "Someone stole my bass"...

Re: Letterman Drum Solo Week

Neil's coordination and power is leaving him, which is sad to me...but he still can put out huge energy during a concert, more than I bet all of the hip cats at HOD actually, but it's just too obvious age is catching him. He used to be much cleaner.

Your playing on the columbos boot DVD is still some of my favorite drumming to watch...and it bears repteated viewings.

Re: Letterman Drum Solo Week

Dave used to be funny, weird and edgy and freed from the stupid bonds of a big time gigantic horribly written TV show. This is from the era when I would sneak down to watch his show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnAW0ef6WA8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmtzqa5X1FQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Letterman Drum Solo Week

Roy's def slowed down, but that was the best playing I've seen yet, even if it wasn't a drum solo. Sheila E is just messy and unmusical, IMO.

His playing is the absolute shit. Man, awesome.
