So true. That's the last thing they should be used for. They shine when you go for the unique and bizarre.

Re: TONY ROYSTER JR - MONTREAL DRUM FEST 2012

Roland V-Drums get better every year, but they still sound like toys to me. Not only that, but they're way too expensive.

Re: Meet the new boss

for piracy to end (or to be cut down drastically, at least), IT companies should be subject to greater regulation and criminal penalties for distributing illegal content. Make it harder and costlier to steal, and the stealing will go down. My $0.02. Thank you. Your two cents is worth a trillion dol...

Re: VC on the cover of next month MD.

before Vinnie was anyone really paying that close attention to Ludwig in 2012? Most definitely. There has been plenty of discussion about Ludwig on a number of drum forums for the last four or five years. Ludwig has been turning things around since about 2000 I'd say. In fact, if they offered die c...

Re: VC on the cover of next month MD.

I've always loved Chad Wackerman's sound too, but not so much on the "Live at Yoshi's" DVD with Allan Holdsworth. But in that case, I think it's the Evans heads that ruin it for me, not so much the drums. I've heard Chad live, up close, and his drums sounded great. My own experience playin...

Re: VC on the cover of next month MD.

I've tried and tried to get DW drums to sound good at numerous rehearsal facilities that use DW for their backline. I have never, ever, not even once, gotten even close to getting a half decent sound out of them. I've had much better luck with their lower line Pacific Drums. I find their hardware si...

It's a different story with the signature lines. They usually receive a small percentage of sales in those cases.

Re: Big Weckl announcement?

I'll buy the DVD of the "behind the scenes" stuff, but I'll wait for the record is finished before I decide to pick it up. I want to know who is playing on it, and hear some samples first. Plus, like I've said before, a CD shouldn't cost more than $9.99. Digital downloads should be even le...
