Re: My 10th year on HOD
At least 10 years for me too- I discovered the site as well searching for Weckl and Vinnie stuff in 1999/2000. (I think the only other site that came up was Tom Knight's- remember?) I think the HOD crowd has changed a bit, it's not as enjoyable for me anymore, but it's still a cool hang when people ...

Re: Vic Firth 'joins forces' with Zildjian
IMO pitch matching drumsticks is very practical- one might not hear a difference on drums, but on cymbals, practice pads, and other harder playing surfaces, you can. Having mis-matched sticks can be distracting while trying to clean up your rudiments and rolls, for example. I usually buy a brick of ...

I don't get your point bro- OP posted a question on what we "think it might be". I answered. It ain't about me so don't make it about me. Just disagree and move on...

Re: drummers elbow
are you serious? Do people repress emotions? Are there biological impacts of stress? Sure, but to say the body manifests those as sore elbows is ludicrous. Why elbows? Why not my 7th toe? Why not my left ass cheek? if I called the girl I dumped when I was 15 to apologize for cheating on her (which ...

Re: drummers elbow
Take this with a grain of salt, but IMO it's not "drummer's elbow", it's anger. "When the mind suffers, the body cries out..." Something's pissing you off, or stressing you out...could be day job, boss, lack of music gigs, family stuff, who knows....(well, actually, you do) Your ...

Re: my new headphones
I use the Shure SCL2 in-ears- I don't think they make them anymore, but Shure makes others similar to them.
For great isolation, I put the Vic Firth's on top of them so all I can hear is what's coming through the phones...which sounds cool when you have mics set up...

Re: To rimshot or not to rimshot?
I play rimshots most of the time for backbeat-oriented music, unless they're too loud for the room/gig, then it's center of drum at appropriate SPL... IMO rimshots 'cut' through a lot better, due to a sharper transient, especialy if mic'd from top...but that's not always appropriate. If you play a l...
