Re: Possible DiCenso interview on the way...

I had a one-off lesson with him a few years back.... Could you elaborate about that lesson David ? It was a two-hour lesson about 4 or 5 years ago. We started by going down to his basement - a drum room I was VERY envious of! The lesson began with a little chat about music and drummer I was into an...

Re: Dennis Chambers Thread

A drummer friend and I were talking about seeing John M with Dennis at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor on the trio tour...he had two 4th row tix. He didn't make it, but I did and obviously it was an astounding concert. Dennis owned the crowd that night, JML could just stand there and grin. I saw ...

Re: Dennis Chambers Thread

A drummer/engineer friend of mine has played me a couple of tracks from an album called Uncle Moe's Space Ranch a few times and the playing on that one is ridiculous. Garsed, Helmerich, Willis, Kinsey & Chambers. I've checked out some itunes samples from the CAB albums and that stuff sounds pret...

Re: Possible DiCenso interview on the way...

Any footage of him playing on your kit? Doesn't he live around Worcster Massachusetts? I have a buddy who went to MI in the same class as me and takes lessons from him. I had a one-off lesson with him a few years back. He was living in New Hampshire at that time. I'm ridiculously keen to check out ...

Re: Brushes

I always have an extra snare stand in my hardware case. I set it up with a pad on it for warming up then when it's time to play I have it next to my floor tom and use it as a table. It usually has on it: spare sticks, brushes, and my iPhone with metronome app open and ready in case I need to check a...

Re: Dennis Chambers Thread

Dennis is one of the reasons I play the drums. I don't listen to him that much these days but I always enjoyed the John McLaughlin Free Spirits Tokyo Live album. I think I wore out a cassette of Bill Evans' Petite Blonde way back when too. I LOVED the Don Blackman clips above. Music with tons of cha...

Re: Thomas Lang, Amazing drum sound and chops

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't really seen any recent Footage of Thomas (since his second Hudson DVD)
I enjoyed it. The 'open' solo seemed more improvised than other stuff I've heard him do. His hands looked looser/more relaxed than I remember too.
