Birdman Film with Drum Solo Soundtrack from Blade/Sanchez

There is a new movie out called Birdman (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/birdman_2014/). It's an interesting and thoroughly entertaining film with a great cast. The reason I post about it here is that the soundtrack is essentially a Brian Blade* solo... all the way through. Not just one 30 second so...

Re: "non-drummers" to the public who can actually play well

I love listening to drums played by "non-drummers." Stevie Wonder is well cataloged in that effort. His magical foot and musical accompaniment are truly stunning. His is is a lesson in phrasing and musicality in support of the song. Bootsy Collins is another guy whose drumming is an absolu...

Re: The word of God

...Does anyone know what the music is at the end? I can tell it's Tony on drums, but I don't recognize the artist, or song... I have not been able to answer this question either! I asked on the youtube page and I hope that generates an answer. I love hearing Tony in more rock/pop environments and t...

Re: speed test

Thanks for the update. I would love to see a youtube video of that guy (or anyone for that matter) executing those "rudiments" at the speeds notated. Just goes to show ya that sometimes teachers teach because they can't actually do.

RIP Ricky Wellman (Miles Davis and Chuck Brown)

Ricky Wellman was Miles Davis' last drummer. Before that he was one of the pre-eminent drummers from the influential DC gogo scene and played on the oft-sampled Chuck Brown gogo staple "Bustin Loose." Mr Wellman defines underrated and unsung. His grooves were monstrous and his hihat work w...
