Re: What heads are you currently using?
Yeah, Pinstripes.... I think they've got that certain "I used them when I was younger but now I've moved on since I don't play as hard as I used to" vibe about them, but I've said it before-I've got them on my Sonor kit up at the mountain studio and they sound and record phenomenally. Neve...

Re: Cheer up HODers!
Deseipel, Great idea. Lets check out some cool tunes. Ah, this feels good. I don't check out Youtube much so I'm gonna let the music do the talking for me. I get together once or twice a year and snowboard with an old keys player friend of mine at his shack up in Keystone/Dillon, CO. When we're not ...

Re: Dave Weckl Touring Schedule !?
I totally agree with you on that. I mainly lurk and find it hard to post any thoughts, opinions, or ideas because of the over abundance of argumentative reactions and those who have to have the "last word". The vibe here on this board is not what it once was and is becoming very dark and q...

Re: Matt Chamberlain
Matt's playing on Edie's second record, Ghost of a Dog, is fantastic. Pick it up if you get a chance. He was a monster even back then. Also, his cover story in Drumhead this last month is pretty enlightening.

Re: What heads are you currently using?
Boy, I guess my post/opinion set someone off... I think I got the somewhat aggressive response because I put a little  at the idea that some cats buy 10-20 snare heads at a time. I've been in the percussion retail industry for a long time (Thoroughbred, AJ's, and GC) and have never sold that ma...

Re: What heads are you currently using?
Oh, the Evans are more expensive but they last twice as long, again in my opinion... When I thought coated Amb's were the ONLY head out there, that's all I bought, but ever since I was hipped out to the Evans Power Center Reverse, I was blown away and have never looked back. I've had to use coated A...

Re: What heads are you currently using?
I used to be in LOVE with the Aquarian coated double thins on my Eames kit but after they stopped making them  I switched to the Remo Coated Vintage Emps and I gotta tell ya, they sound so punchy, big and round, with a lot of great warmth. Just a pleasure and joy to play. On my studio kit, a P...

Re: Drum Mics
I built my own home recording studio in my basement this year and bought almost all of my mics of Craigslist for pretty great prices. I'm using a Shure Beta 52 on the kick, 57 on the snare, Audix F10's on the 8, 10, 12, an F12 on the 14 floor, an AKG Perception 220 on the overhead (which can hear a ...
