Re: Richest drummers, I'm no on it... :-)

I never said music sharing was a great thing. I'm only saying the writers are still making a large amount of money. Sure the sharing effects mechanicals. Mechanicals deal with units sold. Units are the C.D's or MP3's. But song usage and airplay, along with other artists covering the songs, is where ...

Re: Richest drummers, I'm no on it... :-)

I meant that Dave Grohl probably gets most of his money from the Foo Fighters, where he doesn't play drums, but I don't know how much royalties he gets from nirvana I'm guessing he either gets a 1/3 of whatever, which is still probably a lot. He coulda retired just on that cash, probably. it's funn...

Re: Richest drummers, I'm no on it... :-)

That list seems to be BS. I bet JR and some other session cats belong to that list too... The list is composers who happened to be drummers, as well as drummers smart enough to get percentages. The top paid drummers who get paid from doing sessions and tours - would be a different list. It would be...

Re: Richest drummers, I'm no on it... :-)

The list isn't BS. A freelance session musician gets bought out, where as a drummer in a band, if he plays his business cards right, has publishing, writing and mechanical royalties. That's for life, per album. All you need is one platinum selling album to be set for life if you have publishing and ...

Re: Marvin McQuitty Passes

It wasn't cancer according to Gordon Campbell. Very sad, why the secrecy? I respect the family's privacy, but I must admit I'm very curious. What illness, that is not cancer, can take such a huge talent away at 46 years old? Rest In Peace uncle Marvin.

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

I was just on his Facebook fan page, haven't checked in quite some time. Turns out Hass got 2 more great gigs. Patti Austin Asia tour and Keiko Matsui U.S tour. The dude is working his butt off.

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

Been quite sometime since I logged in or visited any drumming sites. I heard about V.C's local Roxy show and wanted to read an HOD review. I also went to Steve Hass' Facebook and saw a killer video he posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nie-tcGjTvI I also read that he's now touring with amazing R...

Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.

Sorry, I don't agree at all with people saying "signature sound". Jeff Porcaro could have been playing ANY cymbals. Of course he chose what he liked, but it's not about the brand. When Antonio Sanchez got the Pat Metheny gig he didn't go out and sign with Paiste for that flat ride sound. H...

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

I picked up the May issue of Modern Drummer Magazine for the the Paul Motian article, and found Hass in the Ask A Pro column. Great question about phrasing, and a great answer that made musical sense to me.
