I don't get him. I don't' hear any personality, that would let me know who he was if I closed my eyes. The open-ringing un-tuned snare bugs the heck out of me and his left-hand trad grip technique is un-schooled, similar to Copeland's except for the crucial powerful backbeat that made all the diffe...

I had the privilege of seeing Marcus Gilmore live with Gonzalo Rubalcaba a few years ago. He played like an alien from another planet. One tune was so out that I couldn't even figure out what the time signature was.
