Re: Your Latest Fav Piece-a-Gear?
Sorry, no pic yet...my latest fave is an ART S8 eight channel splitter and 2 Hosa color-coded snakes. This allows me to use my mixer for my IEM and give an independent signal to FOH...I'm happy, sound-tech is happy. And, no more running IEM through an aux send...I can use my faders which gives me a ...

Re: Dennis Chambers Thread
Just saw Dennis a couple weeks ago with Scott Henderson...like me, he's aging...unlike me, he's still playing his ass off!!

Re: Peter Erskine's autobiography
There was a Bix Biederbeck bio that a friend loaned me back in college...sorry, the title escapes me now...but a very interesting read. There's a lot about life as a musician during the infancy of Jazz...his association with Louis Armstrong and the turbulent times having to play in dance bands (Paul...

Re: Tony Williams reincarnated...
I've been seeing a lot of really young drummers on youtube the last few years with some real talent but this one has that something extra special. Yeah, very much like Tony yet he already seems to have his own voice.

Re: Jeff Beck Tour
I loved the Yamaha vid with all the over the top stuff...but the Beck vid above left me cold. Maybe just spoiled by Vinnie's DEEP groove on this tune perhaps.

Re: Improving quality of in-ear monitoring
I usually get great results just getting vocals from the house and the instruments bleed through my overheads. It's basically what I'd be hearing without IEM but I can control the level and eq if needed. For small venues I usually use an overhead and kick with a snare mic handy if I need it. BTW, I'...

Re: Mr. Gadd
Had we not had Gadd...our heroes would not sound like they do today. So much of what Vinnie and Dave evolved into came directly from Gadd's influence...and just about everyone else for that matter. Gadd had that organic thing that I hear in Elvin and Tony's playing. My fave recording is and always w...

Re: MSG's NJ-NY-NYC gigs
Great story...I always like to hear when some cocky a-hole is put in his place. I opened for a lot of name acts back in the day and never had a major problem when asking to use a piece of my own gear. They were all real pros though...I even had some guys go overboard to make me as comfortable as pos...
