Re: Oh, my, God !!!
Hmm, I wonder if it's just the quality of the clips that's keeping some people from perceiving that there's something fairly unique going on here. If you have it, dig out your August '06 issue of Modern Drummer for a spread on Zach where he gets to put what he's doing into words. Granted, even if yo...

Re: Oh, my, God !!!
He could use a double pedal to make things a little denser.
But seriously, I love Zach Hill, even when he's just going off on his own like this but especially in Hella:
Nice cymbal choking action at 1:12!

Re: New Old videos of Virgil
Awesome to see this in such good quality!
I can't think of many drummers who were applying these kinds of double bass drum patterns in the mid-80's; he sure was a pioneer, even though most of the world never knew about it at the time...

Perhaps he could take lessons from this guy:
Seriously though, nerves (or a bad tuna sandwich) can get to the best of us; kudos to the guy for soldiering on.

Re: Cliff Almond plugs Dirty Loops!
these guys need to release an album already! It's coming, it's coming... It's mixing time soon, but I think everyone needed a little Christmas break. Can't say when the actual release will be, though; it's up to the powers that be, I suppose. I hope everyone has a great holiday season, by the way! ...

Re: Cliff Almond plugs Dirty Loops!
Unfortunately not - but I am friends with Jonathan. Met him a few times here in Cph. He's a fellow Virg-fan. Ok! That makes a lot of sense. I remember when I first stumbled on this clip a long time ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ46Tukl05c It was fairly obvious right away that his main influe...

Lot of favorites mentioned already, but I didn't see any Derek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuadh1o0yC8 Always amazing performances from him. And for some stylistic variation, I'll add this old Marc Bonilla clip, which also features great playing from Toss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXXbho85...

Re: Cliff Almond plugs Dirty Loops!
Wow Henrik, that's awesome that your in a band with the keyboard/vocalist. Yeah, it's a real blessing, to say the least. Henrik, the bass player, has subbed in our band as well, on both bass and keyboards (!), and Aaron has subbed for me on several occasions, which is a funny feeling, as he's 50 ti...
