Re: Hal Blaine's kit

Apologies if this has been posted previously. This is absolutely fascinating, a tour of Hal Blaine's drum kit. A piece of history! That sound is so recognisable, it's incredible. :P [youtube_https:3ivx4ihx]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0KwNDEwm1Y[/youtube_https:3ivx4ihx] AMAZING! So many killer ...

Re: Double bass technique

Yes, playing serious doublebass is very leggy. Derek knows what's up. I use a UR22, it works great. The latency is fine. Anyway, i just ordered New York Vol2 because i want a big room drum sound from Hit factory. BTW, most all Toontrack drum software is 50% off at Sweetwater. Now is a good time to j...

Re: Double bass technique

Playing with electronic bass drums is tricky. It's hard to get a stable pad, cause doublebass makes it move around. I have the Roland TD25 and the bass drum is pretty awful. It feels good for single bass drum. But I need make some kind of mount for it if i want to do doublebass. i switched it with a...

Re: The Peter Erskine Thread

Peter Erskine. He's not good. He's great! I remember seeing him with Bass Desires, blew my mind. I think a great radio experience I had was coming home from a Bullets game with my dad. A song was played, totally awesome. They mentioned Islands by Steps Ahead. Bought the album soon after. And I was s...

Re: Moulded in ear monitors/ear plugs vs isolation in ears

Wear noise reduction headphones over the in ears. Then you can reduce the volume even more. You may look a dork, but better than going deaf.

Re: Trilok Gurtu 'Believe'

Lucky enough to have seen them on this tour...the Live trio album is one of the all time greats. So I snuck backstage at Wolftrap to meet Chick Acoustick Band, as it was a double header. Talked to Dave for a but, he was way cool. Then he said, "You know, you really need to check out Trilok.&qu...

Re: $50,000 and this could be yours.

Now you're just adding zeros Jim. We could then be talking about a $500,000 kit with that gold plating on those Tama stands. Come on. Sorry, those look like CB700 stands. Maybe PDP. Yea, right. The more I think about it, this set blows. Ugly tom suspension. Lame suspended floor toms. Pretty un-thri...
