Re: WECKL - RECENT ACTIVITY & VIDEOS

This is my first exposure to Joe Bonamassa! WOW! I'll be checking into his stuff for sure.

And, I love Weckl...maybe it's just me, but it didn't quite work. Maybe it's the grittiness of the music and the finesse of our man Weckl. The chemistry is just funny, though technically right there, imho.

Re: John Patitucci Band w/ VINNIE @ New Morning, Paris, DVD

I'm so glad that videos from this era exist. This is the era that Vinnie really left his impression on me. Sadly, today, if I see ANOTHER 7 Days video, it generally makes me sick! This freer form, responsive, explosive, dynamic playing, as well as the wonderful sound of that kit (not so much in the ...

Re: Gig vs studio - technique differences?

I agree thoroughly with Josiah. It's an issue of being able to dynamically mix your own sound. The engineer needs to capture what you sound like, not engineer a drum sound out of you. I have had this exact experience where the guy made the same kind of claim the night before the session. I had recor...

The Best & Worst Things Of Being An Older Drummer

Hey Guys, I was watching a few vids from the past of drummers in their earlier days then watching them much later. I thought about listening to myself play 10-15 years ago, versus what I play today. I thought I'd see if this resonated with anyone and how they might answer this question. "What's...

Re: Herbie Hancock (with Vinnie) • 2012

Ditto to all that's been said thus far. I do hope for a more "inspired" kit than that. I'm wondering if something isn't in the works for the future, but just not ready yet. I guess now I'll just start categorizing his work by drumset and I can't see enjoying the ensuing Ludwig years over t...

Getting Yourself Out Of A Rut

Hey folks,

Do you ever get tired of your own musical voice? How do you change things up for yourself? How do you keep things fresh musically? Where (Beside here of course) do you go for new inspiration?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Anyone Seen Sting's 40th Birthday Concert?

For whatever reason, that version of Mad About You is still my favorite! This was Sting's best band and era, in my humble opinion!
