Just got home -- worked reasonably well. Having the iPad metronome was great -- if nothing else, it gave rhetorical power. The holder was pretty good -- but it drifted a bit, so I had to tighten it fairly often. You can actually screw it directly into the top of a mic stand -- I think I'll try that.

Ahh yes -- well probably true on the music stand (though vibration is still a concern) -- not so much on the stick stand or tom case.
