Re: New Years Eve gigs anyone?
Not this year -- after last year . . . I had the flu. Played the gig -- stuck it out through some long and fast tunes. Loaded out in the rain. Had to pull over on the side side of the road to throw up multiple times (in the rain). Spent the next three days in bed. So, I'm not complaining about sitti...

I love Cannonball (and his brother) -- such great ability and feeling.

But I think that's the basic standard tempo for the song, isn't it?

Re: Ludwig P86/BB
Well, I put the P86 on tonight. Photo please. Here's photo of the rascal. It seemed to work very very well last night. For instance we do Art Blakey's version of Night in Tunesia (I had my lawyer read that sentence and he is in agreement that no where do I claim I play LIKE Art Blakey, so let's mov...

Re: Ludwig P86/BB
Thanks everyone -- I will do it.
I love the drum -- but just haven't liked the P85 -- so I think this is the right move.

Ludwig P86/BB
Perhaps this was discussed on the old board -- so apologies if this is an old question.
I have the P85 on my BB -- and it is ok, but it doesn't always throw smoothly and it does stick up a tad. I am considering the P86 and just wanted to know if anyone has an opinion on that.
Thanks in advance.

Re: To rimshot or not to rimshot?
I used to rimshot all the time back when I was younger. Hell, I was just plain loud, I think. I thought playing like Kenny Aronoff was what everybody wanted and NEEDED, LOL! As I got older and started doing more gigs in varied places (restaurants, jazz gigs, smaller beach bars) I learned to play wi...
