Re: Messing around wit this fill idea
There was a time in HOD where we had threads like this all the time. We need to get back to this and I wish I had my kit back to walk the talk! That said...DUDE, that was freakin' awesome! Made my day! INCREDIBLE fill...I would only do ONE measure of it however in a musical context to garner the WTF...

Re: RIP Dallas Taylor
Thanks! There are so many drummers who played significant roles in the lives of others. I can become so "celebrity drummer" centered at times I need to pick up old LP's, glance on the inner liner notes and become reacquainted at all the "Dallas Taylors" that played a role in what...

Re: Me Playing Live
GREAT playing. You played for the song and made it pulse hard. Not sure your cam, but it had excellent sound quality. That snare popped hard and the hats, cymbals came out nice...love the smaller crash. Very tasty hat work, especially the 16ths.. didn't over do it, and the groove fit the song. As fo...

Re: John Blackwell / Prince @ The Forum
He really picked his moments great to hear this. i caught some Live Prince w/JB and his drum sound was amazing! i just felt he perfectly complimented this music. Playing w/Prince has little to do w/chops and much about listening and keeping the pulse of his songs alive. His personality fits this gi...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
I liked that Morg! Listening without watching is more significant for me. I think when listening, I heard a subject discussed a lot back when Dave was w/Freddie centered on ergonomics and pulling the notes OUT of the drum over playing INTO the drum impacting not only health but sound quality, drawin...

Road vid: prog rock Vs rock and roll...two separate animals entirely. rock: women, liquor, smokes, hotel room prog rock: mountain philosophy, sight seeing, walks together, chocolate bars ...they seem to enjoy each other. now play grooves long enough to feel the energy before going into syncopated ma...

Dang...Miller hits HARD for R&B. Is this a particular style?
Not my style at all...blend of gospel chops and...?
Do not usually hear cymbal blasts w/o BD accents.
He seems to like this "feel"
