Re: The Best & Worst Things Of Being An Older Drummer
I just turned 58 a couple weeks ago and I realized I've been at this for 54 years (played my first gig for cash at the age of 4). Best...everything! I'm more in demand now than ever, playing regularly with 5 different bands and a couple of "off-shoots." My playing is so much more focused,...

Riddim... You hit exactly on what I neglected to, but I talk about this a lot to other friends who ask..."how do you make the time to play in a band?" Many of these other people have let go of their passions after having a family...and it shows. Life...to me anyway...is about balance, not...

Re: SIMON PHILLIPS - Lee Ritenour & Mike Stern videos
I think the most impressive thing to me is Simon's time... which has always been pretty Immaculate. It's ridiculous in this live clip too. I've seldom heard the guy waiver. I actually prefer Simon's drum sounds from a few years ago, and back from there. In recent years I'm not keen on the rather br...

Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.
i think the intro would've been better w/ him playing w/ the various lines of cymbals while explaining why he liked it. much like the video he did for the A-customs back in the day. basically it sounded like Vinnie having to explain to us why he chose PAISTE. I for one do not think Vinnie needs to e...
