Re: Letterman Drum Solo Week

Oh, if it were only this Neil....20 years too late. (30 years too late?)

IIRC< Anton and Jordan used to get solo spots all the time on the old, good Dave show.

Re: What do you do on a bad day? (in order to play a big sh

Obviously. My question is how do you go about doing it? You can't simply will yourself to think what you want to think - you have to have a reason to do it. Who controls your emotional response to stimuli? You do. If you believe that it is very important that you have the correct mindset before pla...

Re: Dream Theater

What I like most about his drumset, is that he can play anything at any time with either hand because it's set up that way.

That's pretty darn awesome.

Weight training regimen, with kettlebells or dumbells, to equalize the strength between your arms. I used to take notes in my classes with my left hand. Reading them was difficult. Another...

Re: Dream Theater

I think the DT guys are going to have to rein in Mike's weird patterns and all that stuff. Portony kept things pretty simple, not much modulation, just interesting patterns, and heaviness. Not really much "I'm a drummer" stuff, more that he was a drummer in a prog band playing difficult mu...

Re: Dream Theater

That was cool.

RE: Mangini and stiffness. Just remarking on his technique, very cramped and linear, angular. He can play, obviously, but I can't watch him play. It hurts to watch. Rotator cuff injury waiting to happen.
