Dicenso playing Yamaha

Postby maggimus » Wed Nov 23, 2011 1:39 pm

Does anybody know why Dave is playing a Yamaha kit on the Josh Groban tour??
Did he switch or is it a kit that was already arranged for Novak?? :ugeek:

Because he's subbing for Gary Novak (?), and that the (stupid) production would not take any risk by having another drum brand, so stupid, even if Pearl sucks, it's the drummer who has the sound, not the brand...
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Apparently, Pearl sent out the wrong sizes, and Dave freaked out.
He called up Pearl and gave them hell, and told them he was done with them.

Then he tried to get Gretsch to send him some stuff and they didn't have any drums
in Europe that they could get to him in time. Next he called Tama, and Tama
wanted a guarantee that Dave would do a six-month clinic tour after he was done
with his current commitments, and Dave didn't want to promise anything until
he was sure that he loved the drums. So he called Sonor next, and Sonor
wanted Dave to help promote their new mid-level line, and Dave declined.
He was about to call Ludwig, but Yamaha caught wind of the saga, and
they got in touch with Dave directly.

Yamaha had four sets sent out for Dave to check out and pick from, and he
ended up choosing the kit you see in the photos. He is apparently very
happy with Yamaha and will be doing promotional work for them (photos, etc)
after the holidays.

Note: None of this is true and I made it all up. Dave can play pots and pans for all I care.
He would still sound incredible.

Hopefully so. Good for Dave. Yamaha is the best roster you can be on.

DSOP that was pretty close to the truth, as Pearl didn't have time to provide drums for him according to his blog :)

Thanks for the link CPS.
