That's what the fancy shoes are based on, casual, normal shoes. Puma, Adidas, Converse, anything in that style works.

I actually use Adidas basketball shoes or whatever feels comfortable.
I remember Thomas Lang responding to a question on MD about his Puma shoes and he went something like "when I look for shoes to play, they have to be nice looking, comfortable and fit to play drums. And in that order!".

About the album, I'm loving it. The sound, the playing, the composing... I'm just dying to hear more orchestral stuff from him and see if he approaches the drums in a more unconventional way. I'd really love that.
There's some SICK keyboard playing on In This Life. Those rhodes solos just make you go "hell yeah".

Happy Birthday, Maestro.

The greatest drummer I've ever seen, one of the most original composers I've heard, striving harder than anyone else.
Thank you for all your amazing drumming - it is an ongoing inspiration.

On top of his amazing talent, one of the kindest people you could run into.

Cheers!

Just posted this all over. It's the session video for Voice of Reason, from 'In This Life'.
Some rare but sweet cross sticking action in this one - along with a monster bass solo from Anthony Crawford.

There's hasn't been yet even ONE single track where I liked Virgil's tom sound. I don't know if his rim playing causes that or the tuning but I totally hate his toms. Snare's great, though. Loved it on Moonbabies.

It's Pearl man, how can you like the sound of those drums... :-(
It's maybe worse than DW...
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

NOTHING is worse than DW. :|

I think they sound warm, punchy and great.

Btw, I've heard tons of Pearl drums that sounded great, both live and recorded.
PS This is not in defense of Virgil's recorded history. It has a lot of low points for me.
