Without escalating the pissing match can we just agree to disagree regarding our schools of choice?

Thanks.

I'm sure they both have the pros and cons. Great musicians have come out of both.

Speaking of Antonio... Lovely solo (including a couple of bows to Max)

Take lots of photos, and video clips of classes, other students, etc. Interview other students and video record those interviews. When you're done with school, write a book or put together a documentary. If it's any good, EVERY future student will want a copy. It may help pay for your loans.

BTW, this IS a really good idea. ;)

Berklee - Expensive ?

Postby jean krupa » Sun Nov 24, 2013 3:26 pm

Is Berklee expensive ?

My first year at Berklee cost $1,600.
That included tuition, full time status and room and board in Newbury Hall, Newbury Street.

I agree (from my experience) that Berklee is NOT where one should study if only interested in
a performance major.
--Seek out many local teachers whose playing you enjoy and think you could learn from.
--Continue taking lessons at your local jazz club by attending performances, bootleging them for your own education.
--Listen to all who came before you and your contemporaries.
--Play in as many groups as you can including all styles required.
--Acquire method books and instructional DVDs and play through the lessons.
--Transcribe fills you would like to learn
--THEN, practice till you own the stuff AND apply it (with proper musical discretion) on your playing opportunities.
It doesn't count if you can only play it in your music room.

We are talking about the 2010's, not the 1960's.
