Watching that Lee Sklar interview w Kenny Arnoff...Lee discussed
what it would be like to play with a popular band like Flea in the
Chili Peppers...to just focus on one band over painting a new canvas
each session. The other end of that is playing the SAME songs for
40 years on tour...how many times can you play Renegade and honestly
not get tired of playing the HITS over and over...and over? Then the
next tour, play the same basic tunes...rinse and repeat.

That said, Todd never shows a lack of professionalism to each tune...
the audience the got their money's worth if you're a Styx fan.

Man there's a lot of little details in his playing that I really dig. Attention to detail all over the place! The breakdown with the just the groove - flamming the snare before the gong bass, the little buzz stroked before the main strokes - all super cool. Love the splash followed by the open-close hi hat phrase too. I'm gonna try sprinkling that in and see if it sticks. Suck a low fat snare sound too for that classic rock thing. Nice!

Has anyone seen the Drumeo piece on Vinnie? I believe Todd hosted it.

Yeah, it's worth a watch or two. Quite a few new things that I never saw that make me appreciate Vinnie much more.

The other episodes he did are also very well done.

No way I'm giving any money to Drumeo. ;)
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...
