Cheap cymbals, cheap snares?

Hey guys,

It seems that you can get anyway with some cheap/entry level drums (toms, bass drum) for local gigs, etc., but what about cheap cymbals? Are there any lower-priced cymbals that actually sound okay? What about cheap snares that sound decent? Thanks for any help.

Dream Cymbals,.. Cost effective and sound great.

I've seen some Ludwig Wood snares for 169 Canadian that sound killer..

I think they were the Keystone line,, The one I loved had an ugly green glitter on it but sounded amazing...

I think any round drum should sound good if you put good heads on it, know how to tune and know how to play. Cheap drums have a limited tuning/volume range but you should be able to get a decent sound out of any drum. I teach on Westbury kits and people always ask how I get them to sound so good.
Cheap cymbals? The cheapest cymbals that sound ok to me would be Sabian B8. I'd be patient and look for used cymbals. You might find something nice for a steal.

Dream cymbals are very nice and nicely priced. Other than that, I'd second looking into used stuff.
