Darren, because he's playing the drums of Dweezil's drummer, he was just guest on that show.
And I think that the snare must be in a way that it's better for him to play match grip, just a thought. :-)

Yeah. It was not Vinnie's kit. Though he usually changes to trad when going for some of his traditional licks he seems equally proficient in both grips. He's gone back and forth and played a lot of matched lately when was having some issues. Probably just was more comfy in that situation.

If you play trad you need the snare at the perfect height and angle to play. Not as much as the toms and cymbals. Match you can play any angle under the sun.
