The groove in the Revenna clip is so on top, edgy and dense it feels like the song was counted off and a drum clinic ensued. Loop the first minute of it and see if you don't agree. That's a laid back melody on par with a Weather Channel radar map tune and the rhythmic foundation is completely at odds with it. I know this will be unpopular, but that's my objective opinion from a musical standpoint. I realize the drums are hot in the recording, but still. I can't imagine more than a couple of guys out of two dozen approaching that song that way.

Master of space & time...

I'm really knocked out when Vinnie plays with so much "airiness" but still maintains his "Vinnie-ness"

Here's another example...but more pocket

On "Stride", it's more Vinnie doing his Gadd impression, like almost everybody beginning 80's... :-)

With Rich I like also that song, of course JJ on bass is always amazing too.

I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Yeah Mark, this is the Vinnie I know too, kick your ass in a very unique way, yet, he's sorry for what he played some minute before... :o
I really love his humility.

The "midnight flyers tour" (or something like that.) I saw this band in NYC, I was playing with Gary Thomas at the time, all he could do between sets is shake his head in amazement. Then Vinnie walks up to me at the bar between sets and whispers, "Man I just can't get any of my stuff out tonight, I'm sorry you heard that." I think I looked at him in the eyes, smiled, and told him sarcastically, "You are so full of shit, that was utterly ridiculous!!!" And he was serious, not just being self deprecating. I was serious too. HA!

Good times!

No...all I meant by that was thanks for pointing out what I should have known. I certainly wasn't offended. Again...thank you.
