So I guess it was about to figure out yourself with your ears and imagination, what your favourite musicians were playing without asking them. So maybe he said to the audience, ask me anything, I'm willing to share, back in the days, legendary musicians would not doing it.
It's what I understand.

Ah, ok. I spaced on the year. That does change things - pre internet - and how information he sought from the guys he was inspired by wasn't happening.

Wishful Thinking. Vinnie kills on every song.

What a great find!!! Thanks for posting. Both Vinnie & Steve sound great. The tune is kinda Chick-ish. Was this recorded after Chick's death? If so...nice tribute.

Here are a couple more from the same session.

Just found this one. Always great to hear Vinnie with a big band. Personally, I detest the arrangement. What...the original wasn't good enough? Except for adding Vinnie, it's not like this offered anything new or worthwhile.
When in doubt...roll.

Vinnie with:
Tom Saviano-Sax
Randy Waldman-Keys
Brian Bromberg-Bass
Lenny Castro-Percussion
(Trumpet player not credited...almost sounds a little like Rabdy Brecker)
When in doubt...roll.
