Yeah, but you gotta figure that he, himself, is getting sick of that solo section... just trying to play something different than last night perhaps? For himself, AND for the band. That particular audience might have gotten a taste of the infamous line he said on the "banned" Kimo Williams Manic Depression vid.
Something along the lines of, "I get tired of my shit."
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

I guess that can happen since he knows that his solo always leads into that violin thing...;)

Vinnie is just amazing - he's a magician - it looks like he's playing one thing, but it's something else that we actually hear - wow.

But really, as an editor speaking - if it were up to me, I'd be on Vinnie the whole time during the violin solo - or the hottie singing backgrounds... Or... I'd cut out the violin solo - yes, that's what I would do...

The show I saw 2 years ago lacked energy - felt like everyone was just going through the motions - from the youtube clips, his movements around the kit and facial expressions make it look like he doesn't give a shit - he doesn't have the fire I'm used to seeing - "I'll just do a little of this and that - let's get through the show and move on - when is this tour over?"

I could be wrong - someone will probably post a vid of him absolutely crushing it that proves me wrong, and maybe he had nights was really into it and feeling it, but the majority of these vids don't show that -

I'd agree with that - I've watched a lot of clips and never wanted to watch any of them twice (unlike vids from previous tours). But that's true of the whole band, I think, everyone's a little listless - and it's symptomatic of a tour with no new material to promote. And it was LONG, too.
