While purusing Youtube....

Postby Joesmechanic » Tue Jan 03, 2012 11:51 am

Every once in a while, I'll go from one video to the next on youtube. Seems like anybody and everybody is there. So I decided to try and find anything posted from an old friend named Dave Karasony, and this is what I found.

It helps that he's been playing since I think age 5. Massively SOLID groove....TASTY chops....not overplayed. Just fricken tasty.

Could this be the next avenue of terrorism? Haha! (kind of a cool little syncopated beat)

Wow, check out the other Youtube vid from him of his drum solo...he's in a lineup in that one that includes Russ Freeman and Eric Marienthal!

Great stuff! I really like his snare sound.....

I've known Dave since I was around age 12. He's responsible for a lot of how I think about drumming. To me, he's one of those guys that was born to be a drummer. He's aggressive, he's got mucho chops, ton's of working and practical experience, & he's got an amazing ear for feel and dynamics. Not a guy that "overplays" to to blow out chops. Just really tasty. And because of his Dad, he is massively detail orientated when it comes to tuning and working out a drums natural sound. To sweeten the deal, he's a rocker AND a Jazzer, so he can play the crap out of both styles. Look at his motion & body mechanics while playing. It comes out effortlessly. Like he was born behind the kit.
