ASH SOAN drum grooves - Zildjian cymbal question

Postby Juan Expósito » Tue Feb 14, 2012 9:17 am

Ash Soan has these fantastics drum grooves available in his website.
They are printable and downloadable with the percussion backing tracks to play along with.

I´ve been listening to him lately and I like his playing and sound a lot...

The grooves from his website (on itunes too):

QUESTION: I´ve been looking in his website and I can´t find his cymbals set up.
Could someone identify his 2 zildjian crashes for me (the one over the small tom and the one over the floor tom) ?

(I am in the searching for buying one big crash 18-19 ")

Some grooves on video:

Refreshing the question:

Please go to the 0:30 mark on this video, and try to identify the Zildjian crash cymbal over the small tom.

Thanks.

I sent an email to him too, before I posted this topic.
He has a great recording and touring career.

Yep. Just read a tweet where he said he uses mainly Constantinoples. No specifics though.

I think they are both ride cymbals, he's a friend, I'll ask him.

From Ash via Twitter

@andielaidlaw Yeah. Cons they're Cons. 22" over hammered Ride and the crash is a prototype 20" Bounce Ride. I can't post, could you for me?

Ash is really lovely guy, with a great career and a huge discography. He's in LA at the moment, he was at The Grammys on Sunday night as he played on Adele's album and now he's recording Seal's new record with Trevor Horn in Bel Air. Follow him on Twitter @ashsoan

Wow, he obviously has it going on. Nice groove, great gigs (understatement) and a sound
that has got some personality to it.

I'd love it if he called what he did in the first video half time shuffle, since that's essentially
what it is, but nevertheless, good for him!
