Ron Bushy
Buddy Rich
John Bonham
Ian Paice
Cream had broken up before I got any of their stuff but I did go through a Ginger Baker period in the early '70s.

Yeah, Ringo was the first influence for many of us for sure! But Ginger was the first guy that had a drum sound I wanted to emulate. Keith Moon too. It was organic, and had warts and attitude.

Yep, Ginger's sound - toms in particular - was unique. I can't see video clips at work, but I'm guessing this is about the GB movie, which should be interesting.

I have never been a big fan of Ginger's drumming, although his jazz stuff is pretty cool. BUT, I would push my mom out the way to see this movie. Any interview I have ever seen with him has been more entertaining to me than his drumming. I will confess that the more I hear him talk, the more I want to hear him play.
