Honestly if the goal is actually teach someone - who doesn't understand or have the ability to play dotted 8ths in 7 - I doubt that video is going to help them. Most folks will scratch their head and maybe be entertained. An advanced concept like that needs a much simpler breakdown and a visual guide where the dotted 8ths are from bar to bar.

I think you're right.

This is an excerpt from a longer course on dotted eights, and I think it makes more sense in the sequential context in which it was created.

Than again, we are watching Virgil...if anyone wanted the "normal"
approach to dotted 8th's in 7, there's Drumeo and a ton of other
videos. We (most) watch Virg to see something stretched to the max...

Funny enough, I hear some Billy and Mickey from the Dead in there. If you laid that underneath a blazing Lazy Lightning it might sound appropriate.

A card with a transcription of the base groove would be helpful rather than his explanation.
