Nope, you’re probably seeing the insane ’topic’ list that YouTube auto-generates and which I have tried to combat for the past 5 years or so. We can’t get them deleted :(

Virgil’s own channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/virgildonaticom

And yeah it’s a very mature album. I think his last 3 albums (In This Life, The Dawn Of Time & Ruination) are all mature and unique in the world of music.
They are all now on Spotify, if you want to tip a friend to some unique writing and playing.

Two listens so far. Not really digging the tunes. In This Life is a must have. The Dawn of Time classical vibe is amazing. The new album has so many amazing moments. Gummy bear stuff. Stretching the groove any which way. He’s a wizard! No tunes that are melodic in nature. There are plenty of moments that keep one inspired. I’m sure after 10 listens i will have a different concept of the music!

One of the best reviews Ive read...

What our Kurtis did here is give his honest opinion with a dose of dignity!
Mature review over the usual (not in HOD mostly) found on YTube comments.
I like when a reviewer understands that an artist's work (maybe years is production)
needs a level of respect even if it isn't to your tastes, but I really liked; " I’m sure
after 10 listens i will have a different concept of the music!" I cannot tell you
how many times I dogged a piece of art only to enjoy it later on...

Forgot to mention the drum sound. What happened! Drums on his other solo albums sound huge. Snare drum has zero body/depth. Some tunes i think it was on purpose. Sounds like he is using a dryer ride cymbal. the snare drum is missing on this new album. Writing wise it’s in the vane of In This Life.

I miss some ooomph from the snare, too, agreed. But funnily enough that’s the case for me for most of his albums. I always think they under-represent the power of his playing.

On the melody aspect I agree except for ‘The last
night that I lived’ which I think is a beautiful melodic power rock tune.

Still some of the most insane drumming I've ever heard

Virgil playing brushes, 1986

More from the same album (Virg was playing Sonor at that time)

Pertaining to the Tribal Tech live video above...
Virgil's Actual Proof solo @ 38:45 is a time stamp of how beyond mortal he is.
