Completely OT: Gorecki - Symphony of Sorrowful Songs

Postby Phil T. » Mon May 07, 2012 8:36 pm

I know it's a stretch. No drums at all in this piece, but it's music and we have a musically attuned group here. I just heard this piece tonight and it's killing me. Gorecki, Symphony No. 3. Wow. F#ckin' A. Discuss. The top of my head is missing at this point.

That very symphony is the only piece of work of him I have in my music collection.
Such great music. Good share, Phil!

BTW The Copenhagen Philharmonics recently did a nice happening in the metro (subway) using Grieg's Peer Gynt,
which is also lovely music:

And I totally dig the new Hilary Hahn & Hauschka-album.

Brave, 100% improvised music:

Yes, Phil--I echo the thanks!

I'm going to pull this one off of the shelf--a profound piece of music from my favorite composer in minimalism.

Also wonderful pieces to check out are the Beatus Vir:

Already it is Dusk (a string quartet):

Once again, thanks Phil for the excellent recommendation--the Symphony 3 is sublime and poignant.
