Mike Stern's at the 55 Bar tonight w/ Lionel Cordew
Mick Taylor w/ Bernard Purdie all week at The Iridium
Dizzy Gillespie big band w/ Lewis Nash @ Blue Note
Tommy Igoe big band @ Birdland Friday, although he's not always playing with them now that he lives in CA -- call ahead
Hop on a PATH train at Journal Square (I think, double check me) to get into the city, there are maps in all the subway stations once you're there.

Family reasons IIRC. He's got a west coast residency at the Rrazz Room in SF with some Bay Area heavies.
http://www.therrazzroom.com/12ap/tommy_i.htmlRay Marchica has been filling in @ Birdland when TI can't make the flight, I believe.

Went to Hoboken last night...what a hole...parking IMPOSSIBLE to find!
I drove for an hour trying to find a place to park...narrow one-way streets...
crazy. Cousin plays lead guitar in a cover rock band...heading upstate NY
to some Roadhouse type place w/my cuz for some hang time...try to figure
out what he is saying w/that strong Brooklyn accent...might take a Yankee game
and do the bleeches or grandstand seats for cheap. Purdie is playing w/Mick
Taylor...might also head over to McSourleys...oldest bar in NY. Get some Irish
culture in!

tain is playing at jazz gallery tonight. just gtr and drums. mark guiliana's playing there saturday. steve coleman does his regular hang there on monday
http://jazzgallery.org/html/itinerary.phpyou should try to hit these b/c jg is losing their space soon.
my teacher gregg bendian just played last night, but i think that was in CT. he does that whole mahavishnu project thing and it is killer.
i live around the block from mcsorley's. personally, i prefer Old Town Bar on 18th st. by Broadway. Mc's can get a wee juvenile.
http://www.oldtownbar.com/never drive if you can avoid it!
