Yeah man. That second video is great stuff. What he said in 7 minutes is what everyone needs to hear. Man that was deep. Love Dennis. He needs to do more of this! I could listen to him talk all day. He makes great sense.

Fantastic...
The first video is what everyone was waiting for, and, thanks God, that moment is finally here now.
The second video is nothing but great, and every drummer (especially the young cats) should listen to those words.
I think exactly the way Dennis think, and, more than one time we shared this point of view. Once, Dennis was asked to say something about the status of "Gospel drumming" (it is just an example, not a way to criticize Gospel drumming), and he said: "Man, at the beginning it was all about one & two (he played one & two on his legs), but now it is something else, and I don't know what it is. It's all about the fusion chops, and about who plays more..."
In my humble opinion, it seems like that nowadays technique is sacred, and it can't be "touched" by anyone. It seems like you can't touch someone who has technique... I think that modern society wants more and more, and so, who plays more and more is always cool, and who plays less, is less and less cool. It seems like screaming is the right way to be heard, and talking in a low voice is the wrong way... Maybe this can be cool for Youtube, but music in the real word is another thing, and everyone who lives music professionally knows what I'm talking about...
Just my two cents

"Let the space be a space..."
Well said Dennis...

"...let someone else breathe..."

Love it, Dennis. Hope you are
feeling better, man.

Talking about a guy with elephant
ears, who can do it all.

Pete

Unfortunately, YouTube and Facebook is the current "real world".

The gigs will still find those players
who respect time and in so doing, the
other players. If the chops are there
for those occasional moments, so be it
and that would be frosting but the
line will always be drawn for regular
work and on behalf of those who
respect. Space will continue to rule
and show up in the pocket.

Regards,

Pete

It's all about the cell phones and blinking lights.
